Evolution debate spawns a saucy monster

I just posted an article to the archives which I think everyone should look into. Essentially a challenge to the Religious Right idea of teaching “Intelligent Design” in schools has arisen in the form of the followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Pastafarians, as they call themselves, believe that the Universe was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and that their beliefs are every bit as relevant as those of Christianity. Therefore, they believe by extension that their beliefs as just as much right be taught in school alongside Christianity.

It will, no doubt, be interesting to see how this ongoing debate unfolds.
